The Pastoria Energy Facility, located on the Tejon Ranch just south of Bakersfield, California, began commercial operation of its Phase I in May 2005 and Phase II in July 2005. Calpine Construction Plus performed all general contractor functions, including management of all activities between contractors, engineers and equipment suppliers.
The facility produces 750 megawatts of electric power, enough to supply the needs of Bakersfield, one of the fastest-growing cities in California. The facility produces power using three natural gas-fired turbines in concert with two steam turbines.
The Pastoria Energy Facility is equipped with advanced emissions control systems, significantly reducing air pollution emissions. It also minimizes the usage of California’s most precious resource, water, using a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment and recycling system. These advanced technologies place the facility among the cleanest and most efficient power plants in California.
